Esty is the “handmade” equivalent of eBay. Only originally manufactured or handmade items may be listed, which makes it unique and a great place for artist to showcase their work. You’ll find everything from paintings and hand knit sweaters to earrings and furniture.
What’s also unique about Esty are the various searching tools that make it fun and interesting to find new products. You can search by color, location, listing time, & category just to name a few. The beauty is in the presentation. Esty’s programmers have really done a nice job in presentation, using the latest flash and other technologies to make searching more fluid, vs. the static user interface on other sites. Check out the Color Search, as an example.
Unlike eBay and other selling marketplaces, Esty is not an Auction site. For some, this is a nice break from the stress of auctions, as much fun as they might sound. At Esty, set your price and be done with it - for better or worse.
